Oral Biopsies

IMPROVING YOUR LIFE WITH

Oral Biopsies

We offer oral biopsies at Tender Dental Care as a proven and highly regarded method of diagnosing problems. Our dentist is experienced in performing oral biopsies, so you can feel confident during your visit. To talk with Dr. Prabha Raju about an oral biopsy in Burton, Michigan, call our team at 810-715-3368 if you have any questions or concerns.

An oral biopsy may be mainly associated with oral cancer treatments, but they can be used to diagnose a variety of oral health issues, such as periodontal disease and other pathogenic dental conditions. During an oral biopsy, a small sample of oral tissues or gum is removed from your mouth and sent to a lab for analysis. Biopsies are done with advanced imaging technology, such as X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans.

Reasons we may recommend a patient have an oral biopsy is to diagnose ulcers, sores, lesions in the mouth, white or red patches in the mouth, persistent swelling of oral structures or other changes to oral tissues or gums that may be causing loose teeth or dentures. The biopsy site may be sore for a few days and we recommend that you avoid brushing that area until any discomfort is gone. You should be able to return to your normal activities and diet once the anesthesia wears off.
